List G Barristers is proud to introduce new Victorian Bar member Maya Narayan. We warmly welcome her to the List G Barristers tradition of professional excellence and expertise in commercial and public law advocacy, strategy and advice.
Maya practises in federal and state public law, regulatory and commercial law. Prior to coming to the Bar, Maya was Counsel Assisting the Solicitor-General for Victoria (then Richard Niall QC, now the Hon Justice Niall of the Court of Appeal of the Supreme Court of Victoria); Associate to the Hon Justice O’Callaghan of the Federal Court of Australia; and a Principal Solicitor in the Constitution and Advice Team and the Chair of the Constitutional and Intergovernmental Relations Practice Group at the Victorian Government Solicitor’s Office.
As a solicitor, Maya conducted public law litigation in a range of jurisdictions – including numerous proceedings in the High Court and Federal Court – and provided complex advice on the exercise of public power. She also regularly acted for government parties in responding to royal commissions and other public inquiries (including integrity investigation).
