
Edward Moore

Edward has a broad commercial practice, with particular focus on taxation, insolvency, contract and property disputes.
He has recently appeared in complex tax anti-avoidance appeals before the Full Federal Court (Commissioner of Taxation v ACN 154 520 199 Pty Ltd and Commissioner of Taxation v CPG Group Pty Ltd, led by Eugene Wheelahan KC, Catherine Pierce SC and Greg Davies KC). He is also briefed to appear in several confidential matters in the Administrative Review Tribunal, led by Andrew De Wijn SC and Eugene Wheelahan KC, and has appeared unled in various Supreme Court matters concerning insolvency, oppression, contract claims, misleading and deceptive conduct, estoppel and costs disputes.
Edward brings a forensic and analytical approach to complex factual and legal problems, while maintaining a common-sense and commercial approach to dispute resolution.
Prior to joining the Bar, Edward spent almost a decade working on cross-border mergers and acquisitions, complex corporate tax advice, and policy development. He has held roles at Greenwoods & Herbert Smith Freehills, the Commonwealth Treasury, the ATO and Big4 accounting firms.
Edward holds a law degree with first class honours from Monash University, where he also completed an honours thesis on the income tax general anti-avoidance rule. He also holds a Master of Taxation degree from Melbourne University (H2A), a Bachelor of Arts and a Diploma of Languages (German).
Edward read with Andrew De Wijn SC, and his senior mentor is Eugene Wheelahan KC.
